Cube Runner
Reviewed on: September 27, 2008
There is a reason why Cube Runner is one of the hottest applications in the App Store right now: it’s free and it’s awesome. You pilot your litte “cube runner” through a level bombarded with cube’s in each and every direction, and your goal is to stay alive and intact for as long as possible. Each second that you survive adds another point to your total score. If you do happen to crash into a cube, your runner gets blown into a million pieces.
The game is very entertaining and I am sure that even if it cost you a dollar or two, it would still be a game everyone had on their iPhone or iPod Touch. The game takes advantage of the accelerometer and as you can see in our video review, the calibration and response to tilting your device is outstanding. We couldn’t have asked for anything more from such a simple game.
But there is more: Andy Qua, maker of the application, has introduced support for third-parties (aka the fans), allowing anyone to create their own level and sort out the cubes into any path of destruction they choose. You can check back to our our blog soon for a tutorial on how to create your own levelpack or see ones created by people like you on our forums.
